Mexican Insurance Important Info!
 

I'm a newbie to the forum but I thought I would share this information. I'm currently in Guatemala, but had accident and terrible problems getting my bike fixed (BMW F800).

Apparently there are only two main carriers for auto/MC insurance, no matter which 3rd party agency you purchase from. The names are Atlas and Qualitas. I purchased Qualitas near the border. It turns out no BMW dealer accepts Qualitas insurance, with exception of one- Momentum BMW in Mexico City. They deal mostly with cars. All the other BMW dealers only accept Atlas insurance. That leaves you with few options; and Momentum BMW customer service is terrible. Most BMW dealers in Mexico are located Mexico City.

Bottom Line: Make sure that when you buy your from a 3rd party insurance they offer Atlas Insurance. It will give you many more service/repair options. Motohaus is awesome. Ask for Robert Sommer, He's an expert and speaks english, and will go out of his way to help.
