Global Express Postal service

We are having some documents couriered to us by Global Express to Mexico and have discovered that despite being a courier service, once the docs reach the destination country they are handed on to the local postal service! In fact, the first time they tried to deliver our docs, they were delivered to Norway, despite the correct address being written! I donĀ“t know why our friends used the same service the second time round!!! If you want something delivered within a specific length of time, do not use this service, even tho they say it will take 3-5 days!!

Yes Nina,
Our Mexican regular post service is a real Snail Mail.
If you use US postal service and they warranty you a 2 day delivery to Mexico, they will, but once in Mexican Customs it will take more than 2 weeks to be actually delivered to the destination.
Use DHL, Fedex, etc. It is real fast.

Also when exporting something to Mexico, eventhough it is personal items, always declare a very very low value in the shipping slip.
Who receives it will have to pay as much as 23% of the value you declared, to release it from customs. Even for used clothes! and more than that for stuff that is not considered under the NAFTA agreement.

One of our "rules of the road"

Find out which BIG courier company has an office IN the town you are shipping into - and then have the goods couriered by the same company - otherwise, couriers hand off to another courier - which may or may not be one of the big names. Yes, we learned this one the hard way...

Hi, we made the exact same experience. Sorry for not having that mentioned here on HU. Might have saved u the trouble.

Next time we think about that.
