Hey, thanks for that Buckles. I have just had a look on their website and gone through the quote form, only to find that I am too early. It needs to be done sometime next month, for some reason. It looks ok though, just a little bending of the truth reqired.:innocent: The only concern is that where they ask if I had previously had bike cover, the company I had it with are not listed, which could possibly be a handbrake. I think it is better to say that, yes, I have had insurance before, so that any past history in the UK is not so suspect, but if they go looking, things could fall in a heap.
It's all a bit of a worry, but at the same time, it's also a bit of a giggle, really.

If you are claiming a bonus for not claiming in previous years (NCB) they will do one or two things. First they'll look you up on the insurers database. You won't be there, but that doesn't matter you can drop off by moving house etc. To get round that they'll ask for your previous insurance details. If you can send them an Australian certificate it'll blow their minds and they'll probably refuse to cover you just because the call centre drones won't know what to do (but they could just process it).

If you didn't claim NCB they probably won't care.

My thoughts would be to call rather than go online if you've got a UK address, some of the call centre people do actually know how to deal with something other than a CBR600 in Basingstoke and if they enter details that are useful for you that info's there for the drones as gospel forever. If you need to try both routes, try Bennetts, they are Carole Nash's big competitor. Equally useless where it counts, but equally slack when in comes to checking details that don't involve your credit card.

hi Gav, The reason they ask for proof of previous cover is i think for NCB, no claims bonus, every year that is accident free you get a years NCB. you may have to provide proof , old certificate, policy number. NCB only lasts 12 month from the date the old policy expired but can vary between companies, don't worry if you do not have any it only means the new policy will be more expensive as you are classed a higher risk, hence the no claims proof. look on the motorcycle news web site there's heaps of insurance company adds. you could get between 10- 30% discount for being a new customer= one years NCB, later, Andy
