Fire in Mali
Just a quick message about dumb theft. Two friends of mine traveling from Senegal into Mali, tried to board their two Teneres onto the train (they were actually in Cayes) to go to Bamako. A Petrol theif, a bright one, stole gas from one of the bikes and managed to spill it on some hot coals, thus causing a large fire, burning the bike up and (no official information) hurting numerous people. I too have had many problems with folks stealing gas from the tank and thus, I have had a seamster make an engine cover for my Tenere for when I leave the bike overnight or put it on a train, which I plan on doing a couple of time in the next couple of months. Though this will not stop the stealing, it will be a deterent. Enchallah!
