Ferry Strikes Marseille to Tunis/Algeria

The ferry strikes that have affected the Channel crossings are due to the ferry operators SNCM who do (or rather did) the mediterranean crossing from Marseille. read thge link http://www.iht.com/articles/2005/09/...ness/ferry.php
There will be no ferries for at least the next two to three weeks (according to a local tour operators and harbour officials) I have spent the last 24hrs trying to sort it out. If you are on your way - avoid it go to Genoa in italy, confirmed via email they are unaffected. Ciao

Alas, the strikes are already over: the govt. has more or less given in and last I heard they are sailing again. Strikes are a way of life there.
