China -> Pakistan -> India via KKH safety
 
Hello All,

I'm planning an Eurasia overland trip by train/bus and was wondering if anybody had any experience with regard to the safety situation in the Gilgit region along the KKH. I've heard of recent attacks in the region and am a bit concerned.

I am a US citizen of Indian descent and was wondering what the consensus opinion is on the riskiness of this route. I'm also wondering how my race may factor into this. I will be traveling by bus to Gilgit and then via bus from Gilgit -> Rawalpindi -> Lahore.

Hi Prash,

You should be fine Prash. Keep in touch and we shall keep you updated. I just returned from KKH and that area along with a dozen other groups on bikes.
