Buying mc in usa

Hey there.

Im planning a trip round the world in two years time. And i would like to cross usa on two wheels.

Therefor i would like to invest in a mc in N.Y. and sell it again in L.A. Duration of trip aproximately 2-2,5 month.

Does anybody know a good shop near N.Y. city. I would prefer pre-owned with a max costprice of 5000dollars.

Does anyone know about insurance when i'm not a usa citizen?

Thank you

fro 5000 you can get more bike than you need for getting across the usa. for instance you could get a used klr 650 for 3000 or less, brand new they are just over 5000. if you have a motorcycle license in your home country you can get insurance here no problem. selling your bike on the west coast is another story, it's a buyers market so keep that in mind when you buy. i would not spend 5000 on a bike and count on selling it on the west coast. try www.craigslist.org for a listing of used bikes in new york.

hi
i second finding your bike on craiglist.org. i just purchased a k75s from a fellow in san fransisco california. i live in jackson wyoming. i researched alot of bikes and prices and finally agreed to buy the bike. i flew out, met the guy, gave him the bucks and rode it home.. it was a great experience. of course i was familiar with that particular bike and one reason i bought it was because of its reputation for being well built. i was honest with the guy and asked him if there was ANY reason that i could not get on that bike and ride 1200 miles. i was happy that he was honest also and i had no problems..

Keep in mind that you need to register and insure the bike.

There is no way to know what the market will be in the future. With gas and hurricanes etc used bikes may become more valuable shortly.
