There's some Georgia info on the borders page (link on right of the page) http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/tripplan/borders/

There's a little more here on Georgia:

(plus lots of crossings that we are going to put into the new system, but it's not ready yet.)

http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/tri...rders-temp.php

And at
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/tri...sings-temp.xls there's a downloadable Excel spreadsheet of the same information.

Once you've done the crossing, PLEASE post it in the border crossings form so we DO have it for the next person.

I've been in Georgia and Armenia in 2003, on the way to Europe from Central Asia.
You can find some useful info on the following link:

Feel free to ask any further info.

Hi Niels
my wife and I have been there last year.

some answers:
yes, there should be a georgian embassy in Yerevan. Try 42 Arami street.
We had no probs camping. Just try to stay out of sight.
Petrol prices: as far as I remember some 0,40 Euro. This is NOT Iran nor Turkmenistan. Where U can cross the country for a andfull of dollars.
There is NO crossing between Armenia and Turkey.
And there won´t be a crossing unless the turks acknowledge the genocide of 1915. A little story about the behaviour. In german schoolbooks shall be written about the upper mentioned genocide. The turkish consul show up in the ministery and says: U can´t write this.
Assurance: none needed in Armenia nor Georgia. Turkey wants the so called "green insurance card". You should have one as a belgium resident. But make sure Turkey is active on the green insurance card.

Good luck and feel free to ask

Goetz

hi guys,

as i am in armenia now, i thought i would be a good idea to update some info..
the bordercrossing from iran into armenia was not exactly the fastest i ever experienced. the visa was available for 40 dollars (but i met a couple who only paid 30, just one week before). a carnet was not needed but i had to pay 21000drams for inporting the bike. everything included, like roadtax because armenian roads belong to one of the best in the world ;-). anyway you can not get away with it. got a receipt and i heard other people paying the exactly same amount of money..
if its really late you can stag in meghri, and stay with eliya, a b&b, good value and superfriendly people..

then gorgian embassy in yerevan is issueing visa for a month for 6600 drams or around 14 dollar. so much cheaper then the bible describes (40 or even 80 dollars for people with a consulat at home). got it in one day.

petrol is offcourse more expensive then iran, but still okay, costing 340 drams or around 60 eurocent...

yep, thats all for now, if you have any other questions, just ask !
