Algeria / Iranin the newspaper!
 

Just read this this morning:
In three different attacks 24 people were killed. 9 were killed monday evening in Sidi Lakhdar, on the road between Algiers and Oran. More to the east, in Boukhalfa 2 persons were gunned down. And somewhere else, location not specified, 13 people were killed.
Guess all this is happening in the North of Algeria.

An other story (since Bush's State of the Union) is the rising tension between Isreal and the USA on one side and Iran on the other side. I hope the situation doesn't escalate, but it might be wise for travellers going through Iran the comming months to have a backup plan.

Not to downplay in any way the seriousness of Fireboomer's warning, I had breakfast yesterday with two work colleagues who just returned from 6 weeks in Hassi Messaoud, and reported that all was quiet in the south (Hassi Messaoud, Ouargla, In Amenas, In Salah, etc.).
