UPDATE 10-Huge earthquake off Chile's north coast triggers tsunami | Reuters

We are safe inland at a hotel in Nazca, Peru some coastal towns in Chile and Peru were on warning for possible Tsunami . We slept Puerto Inka hotel camping the night before the earthquake.

All business as usual here in Nazca, Peru but for anyone that is interested - each number on the Richter Scale represents an approximate thirtyfold difference in magnitude. This was an 8.2 - earthquakes of 8 or more occur very rarely, while earthquakes of much lower magnitudes occur every hour of every day.
