2nd Nov, 2014: Suicide bombing at Wagah border

Not good news. Apparently this happened just after Sunday´s flag lowering ceremony, near the checkpoint on Pakistani side. According to the news article below, at least 55 people were killed, and many more injured.

Wagah border is located near Lahore, and the place should be well known for many overlanders, as it is the only international border crossing between Pakistan and India.

Very sad and unfortunate.
This nonsense has been going on for too long and must end.

Though the flag lowering ceremony is an amusement and 'act of how international relations between warring parties behave in the contemporary world order' those guards rehearsed well and have coffee together to make a good show. Those visiting are the ones to be vary of. They bring trouble. My last visit (from the Pakistan side) indicated that be very alert and open our eyes and ears to the crowds.
Sad to know there seem to be no end to this killing. I am planning to cross this border next Spring from India side.
Thanks for update.

Yesterday, some Taliban "heroes" killed over 100 children at a school. This did not happen near Lahore though, it happened in Peshawar. Personally I am baffled, what kind of cause could be driven forward by attacking children with bombs and machine guns? There have to be some really deeply disturbed minds behind this kind of sub-human behaviour.

I hope it turns against them big time, and actually helps to remove any support, that they´ve possibly got from the locals until now, and helps to permanently get rid of them. Kinda hard to see, who would miss them one bit.

maybe it's time the world, including the non-radical muslims, stood together and killed these bastards. sort of a multi-religion crusade against these bastards, and the a-holes that are supplying them arms...ahem, iran, russia etc.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
