Where do you hide your carnet?

My carnet is the size of a small novel, except in A4 format. I folded it double, but it's still a pile to carry. I guess leaving it on the bike is what people do? But then what if the bike gets stolen? Or do you tear the slips out after you have the import/export stamped and leave the "blank" pages with the bike? What do you do?
