Throw away those wire tent pegs
 

Throw away those wire tent pegs with a hook on the end and get pegs that
have a + or L shaped cross section. These wont rotate and let the tent strings
go.

Another worthwhile peg - if still available -
see below, guess so, is Twizzle Pegs. They are the Dogs...... They are virtually unbreakable plastic and screw into ground. Excellent in all conditions - even stony ground. Good also in soft ground.
Wouldn't be without them - If you can find some, buy 'em.

Instead of all the fancy modern up to date carbon fiber, techy, or space age plastic wonder thingamajigs ... go down to your local hardware or building store and invest in some good old steel spikes. Make sure they fit into the holes of what ever you want to hold down. You can get them either spiral or smooth. Just make sure they are at least 8 to 12 inches long. You can beat these suckers into any ground and they won’t bend or break no matter how hard you smackem. They are cheap, easy to replace and your problems are over. End of story.

If anyone had been tempted by my post about Twizzle Pegs but in UK, just found a supply. 'bout £11 for 8 posted, but they last a long time, mine are still going after 15 yrs.
