I do. It's a good reality check for taking too much crap that you end up packing and unpacking each day. Life's to short to get pissed off with that on an expensive trip. Lying it all out on the floor works well as well. The list helps you recording it for another trip a few years down the track.

Less is better...... If it's something that you think you can do without but it turns out you can't, think about possibly getting it while on the road rather than taking it before you leave.

"Helpful" posts like that are how you astroturf your company. Astroturfing is the fake grass roots thing. Lots of companies do it in usually half-assed ways. It's a slight step above a post that simply links to the site since that gets removed right away. This way it'll keep a link to the site on horizonsunlimited which will move it higher in the google rankings.

The chance that it was a real post isn't good since it's the only post that person made. But they could come back and clear it up. Maybe get into a gun rights argument with whatshisname.

Boxer shorts? Luxury! Trackie bottoms and a string vest.

Call me Mr. Stupid, but what the heck is a shoe mitten? Do they do ones with a string that goes round my neck so I can't loose them while playing?

On a practical note, they missed a point about zip type freezer bags. They came in huge sizes and can be used to make two t-shirts the size of one by getting all the air out. Works even better once said shirts met the travel wash a few times.

I too am a list maker, but take it a step further, I check the list when unloading sometimes. I do it less often now, but it helped in the early days. I have a deal with my other half where anything on the bike that wasn't used can be chucked off the ferry on the way home. She looked silly wearing three t-shirts, a jumper, a spare jumper, a spare shirt, three sorts of lip balm etc. but has learned to moderate the Just-in-case stuff. The chuck it on and go approach is fine where a bit extra load won't matter, or you can simply eat in a restuarant when you've forgotten cuttlery, but it becomes a PITA when you are missing an inner glove or inner tube half way up an Alp in January.

Outdoor shops sell those Eagle Creek and other brand compression bags. They are heaps good. Been using them for years now. They don't always stay vacuum over longer time, but do to get them packed up. And you never have to worry about rain again.

Hmmmmmm....a question!!!

If it's possible to survive on half your stuff..........why don't you just take that "half" with you in the first place and leave the other "half" at home????? Doesn't this make a bit of sense, or am I being silly???

I think I'd have a bit of a problem withthe cosmetics though........how the hell am I supposed to ride my bike without mascara and lippy. That'll have to go in the tank bag then!!
