Free hospitality by using Couchsurfing.com

Hey guys, I am a 23 year old from Iowa, USA and am currently staying in Manauga, Nicaragua. I wanted to let you guys no about couchsurfing.com which is a non profit website where fellow travellers agree to host you and you in return do pledge something to the website (most often agree to host travellers at your house, but can be as simple as agreeing to have coffee with other travellers or doing website work).

Thought I would share this tip,
Geoff

Hey Geoff,

I recently discovered couchsurfing.com and can't wait to start using it. I've just had a bit of trouble finding a couch (for Krakow this month) and getting anyone to stay at mine (although I don't live in a well known area and it is winter) initially!

DonĀ“t worry, it takes a little bit of time to get used to the website and build up your profile.

I use couchsurfing too. Haven't stayed anywhere yet, but right now there's a guy from India on my couch.

I can vouch for couchsurfing.com... its brilliant. We've had several 'surfers' round our place in London and its a fabulous place to build up a network of like minded (i.e. wanderlusting, curios and interesting) people.

It is ESPECIALLY useful in building up a network of friendly faces/contacts around the globe -- and to get LOCAL information before setting off on a trip.

My couchsurfing network covers just about every place I'm planning to visit across Africa.

Highly recommended - even if you're not planning to 'surf someone's couch'...

Ah, found some couches to surf now :thumbup1:.

Thank you for reminding me of this site. I ran across it a while ago and was meaning to join up. Now I am all signed up and hopefully will be able to have some help along my European trek. Me
