As you will already have crossed, this is for anyone else reading...! My top 3 tips at any border:
Take your helmet off at the border, that includes any sunglasses - smile and engage with the border guards. Learn a few words in their language - excuse me, hello, please, thank you, and ask them how they are pronounced correctly - they will be delighted that you made the effort. You may have to buy insurance at a border. If there is a question over the cost but neither of you can understand each other use written sign language - eg draw a pic of a bike, a car and a lorry - draw a question mark above the bike and a curency sign - sometimes the price is different for different types of vehicle. Saved myself over 100 euros doing this in Montenegro. Happy travelling
