BMW R1150 GS Adventure

Dear All

Looking for any advise I can get on equiping a GS Adventure for a long trip to SE Asia from London.

The bikes quite new and only done 9000 miles.I`m not plannig on doing a majot of road journet, most will be on as good a tarmac as possiable.

So advise on tyres, service items to carry, essential bolt on goodies, any one had experience of BWM dealers around the world?

Please feel free to give me any advise you feel would be usefull.

Many thanks Stuart

You won't find many bm dealers between Turkey and India.. you'll take what you get.

Second on the Torrance tyres - buy them in Turkey and they should last to India ... Assuming Iran, Pakistan trip...

Fuel filters will fail if you get bad petrol.. carry two?
Oil filters .. well using an old filter won't do the bike harm. And it will keep running. What you want to carry are those things that fail and leave you stoped somewheres unplanned. Alternator belts can and do fail.. but usually they give signs - cracking and dirty bits inside the cover = replace. Put a new belt on say a month before you leave. Have the bike serviced a week before you leave. Get an oil change in Turkey ...official bm dealer there?

Bolt on goodies? ... Less is more. Take less clothing - buy it on the way .. good souvenirs and you'll merge in more.
