I have fitted a pair of these. Untried with a pillion, yet.

The pegs themselves are light and well made, IMO. The kit is bolt on for the 650, but weld-on for the 400 and 600 (IIRR re the 600). I have the 400. Points to consider: is it illegal to put pillions on your crosser in your country? It is in the UK, but then the bike won't be used there.

Also, the welding plate that the pegs bolt onto is not very well thought through. The plate was not pre-threaded, and the plate was WAY too small to weld on easily and left your pillion with knees just under the ears. I had to get trapezium shaped plates made up by an engineering workshop, which gave us a far longer welding length and brought the pegs back and down: far better.

All-in-all, a tidy set of pegs, but just be prepared to fettle a bit, IMO so, for me, this brought down the value overall...

A rather minor observation, but in the UK an XR would be referred to as a trail bike and not a crosser and it's certainly not illegal to have rear pegs on an XR in the UK.
Edit - on re-reading your posting Warthog, maybe you mean pillion passengers but they'd be OK on a trail bike in the UK as well.

Good news if that is the case. I had been told that it was not by folks on the XRV.org site, as well as my old mechanic in London, but that was the first I had heard of it....

As I stated, no longer a consideration for me, unless its illegal in Estonia: sod's law!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
