Wanted, Acerbis 20l to suit TTR600

Hello everyone,
I'm in the market for a larger tank for a 1999 TTR600. They are available new here in Oz but I reckoned I would put this out and just see if anyone has one no longer in use or if they know the where abouts of one not being used. This is probably an Australia specific search but if one turns up available overseas we can explore some options on getting it here.
Thanks for the oportunity to use the message board.
See you later,
Gordo.

OZ Aceribus tank for TTR 600 (03)

G'day Gordo I was wondering if you had any luck with the tank last year, as I am chasing a larger tank (Acerbus?) for my ttr for a trip to Cape York in June, I'm told on some legs I will need to get at least 320- 340 ks between fill ups. I'm happy to buy one new or secondhand Any advise welcome
Cheers Pedro

I have an Acerbis 20 ltr tank on my '04 TTR600RE, and I usually get 275 km before reserve. I'm not sure accurately how much reserve holds, but when I "brim" the tank it takes about 17 ltr. Its the best mod on these bikes, what with a crap 10ltr standard tank!

Me and the wife both have TTREs with acerbis 20l tank, once she ran completely dry and I was on vapours. I put 41 point something litres in them which caused the Canadian gas station clerk to say "what the hell kind of motorcycle do you have!"
I get at least 400km out of that tank-record was about 500km in Morrocco, heavily loaded on leaded super tickling along mountain tracks.
TTR/XT are very sensitive to the right hand!

That must be some right wrist you've got there Pigford. I've had 300 miles out of that tank as it went onto reserve so 350ks should be no problem.

Blimey, so you're doing 80 mpg !!!!!!!! You must have a broken wrist?

:(

Hmmmmmm. Thinking about it, since I've fitted the Acerbis tank, I tend to top it up part way as i pass a filling station every trip and if I stop to get some lunch/paper, etc I top it up.

I always reset the trip - but last time it read 275 km and I put 17 ltr in. Thats equates to 45mpg - which sounds rather low, coz I seem to remember working my mileage out at just below 60 mpg with the other tank on :confused1:

But I think I had been playing about with the carbs and was testing the fuel tap (for flow) and rinsed some bits out, so I maybe wrong (hopefully). I'll re-check and see :eek3:

G'day Pedro, haven't checked this for a while so I'm a bit late replying, sorry 'bout that.
I ended up finding a 2nd hand one via the Aust. Stuff Wanted section over in Advrider website. Another avenue was to try and buy one off bikes listed on ebay. While I was searching I think 2 with 20l tanks came up.
I can't remember the name of the Aust. importer of Acerbis gear but I don't think it was Ballards. I did talk to whoever it was but they weren't going to be getting a shipment for 3 months or something and I tripped over one in the meantime.
What model is your ttr? I think '95 to '97 could take a 23l tank and '98 on a 20l. There might be a new 23l to suit the earlier models around my neck of the woods, I tried it but didn't work.
The things are out there, just not easily visible.
Let us know how you get on, Good luck.
