Metal Mules (used) at Ripley for sale

Hello all

I will be bringing my Metal Mules which are FOR SALE to Ripley on Friday afternoon (until Saturday early evening).

They have just returned from a bruising few months through Africa so have some scars and look well 'ard. Happy to talk reasonable offers but I notice now they are around £1200 new (!!)

I would have bought secondhand myself if I could have found some last year, so would suit someone planning a big trip.

Cheers, pics on the blog below

Hi, I am Fabien from France.

How much are you asking for your metalmule panniers?

You can send me a PM if you prefer,

Cheers,

Fabien

Are you including the mounting carrier? If so, from which bike?

Also, which version of MMs are they?
I ask because I understand they are now selling Version 3 for the money you quote, but V3 has different locking and sealing systems to earlier ones. (Hardly worth the 30% price hike though - see separate thread).

presumably the Series I panniers, not the latest Series II

capacity would be useful information--31 litre, 38 litre or 45 litre?

whether with carrying handles, tie-down points and rubber feet?

whether anodised or powder coated?

whether pannier rails are included?

Hello Tim, Tony and Fabien

Your questions highlighted the fact that my post was put up in a hurry - Sorry - I'll try and shed some light on the MMs:

I bought them in July 2007 for just over £800 (I don't know what 'series' they are)
They have carrying handles on top and two each on the side
4 rubber feet on each (bashed up)
4 metal tie-downs on each
Anodised
Pannier rails (presumably those are the things that hook onto the frame?)
Mounting frame for a Triumph Tiger

ITHINK they are 38 & 45 litre volumes, I can't honestly swear on that because my receipt does not say and the boxes do not say - I suppose I could always fill them full of water to check! But they were recommended as the best solution because of the big exhaust on one side.

If it was me, I would give them a good clean and buy two new rubber feet (damaged) and a few new pannier rails to get a good tight fit from Metal Mule who are usually at the Ripley weekend (no postage) and you are ready to go.

They are still worth £425 to me and that's what I am asking.

Regards to all
Alan

Hi again,

I give up, it's too expensive for me... I think they are worth the money tough and wish you a good sale.

Best regards from France,

Fabien
