Just for information I have just seen a new set of tesch panniers/racks for sale on e-bay (currently £199), Listed under; bmw r80gs .these might be of interest for someone looking for a substantial pannier system.
I use tesch panniers on my r80gs and think they are excellent strong and high volume kit, I would think the rack could easily be adapted (cut and rewelded to fit many different bikes) Tesch panniers may look home made in the shed -which I suppose they are - and are not as shiney and clean cut as many on offer these days but they are very strong, waterproof, repairable and secure. They would make a great starting point for someone wanting to adapt panniers to there own needs and requirements. If I was in the market for a set I would snap them up - as new from Tesch they cost a small fortune.
