Yamaha XT600Z 3AJ '88 for sale in Kenya/ East Africa from August '08
Dear All,
I'm currently traveling down East Africa and sad as it is I will have to part with my bike in Africa.
It is in good mechanical condition and hasn't given me any trouble since I started my trip 7000 km ago. Motor and gearbox are in good shape and there are now whining noises.
Battery, Chain, Sprockets and break pads have been changed before I started and I will get offroad tires here in Cairo.
The bike comes with the standard 24 liter tank, reliability and simpleness of maintenance, which I'm sure you are all aware off.
The motor has had a rebuild by the previous owner, but I do not know whether he did this himself or he had it done professionally. In any case, I will have ridden it for 15,000 Kilometers before the next owner gets his or her hands on it so any problems will come up before that. Total kilometers so far are 45.000.
From the cosmetics it will not win a beauty contest but I found that quite positive so far. I'm happy to send pictures on request. There are no extras that I'm aware off except for the saddle, which is upholstered in white leather, a bike alarm and a detachable rack to carry my pannier bags.
I'm quite flexible on the country and the time of handover as long as it is between early August and late September. However, we would have to arrange for my deposit for the carnet de passages to be released. So the buyer has to tax and register it east africa (SA could be a last resort) or come up with a solution that I am not yet aware of. The value is set at 700€ in the CdP, which is putting it low, but this might be the base to calculate taxes.
I'm willing to consider any reasonable offer, payment should be made in either Euros or GBP. The bike is registered, taxed, mot-ed in Germany, mot to run out in 2010. The Carnet is from th ADAC.
Please feel free to ask any questions, either here or in a private message.
Best,
Steffen
