I’ll be living in Kenya (Nairobi) for the next two years and want to explore some tracks during my stay. I’m looking for a used KX, KDX, YZ, IT or KTM (250cc and upwards).

I may also consider importing a bike from South Africa. Does anyone know an easy and cheap method of doing this???

I may be selling my Tenere in Kenya in a month or so, its a big bike though. In Egypt now, expect to be in Kenya soon, can show you there.

PS Unless you go to SA yourself to find a bike its a risky business.

Check the want ads at the Serit Centre, at Village Market, and also at the KTM dealer out near Karen. There are lots of used MX bikes available in Nairobi, so you shouldn't need to import one. KTM's probably got the best support in the country.

Definately get a bike though, Kenya's a great place to ride! Take the dirt road just north of Maasai Mara, or the track from Ngong to Longonot, or anything in the desert (watch for thorns, and ask about bandit activity first) and enjoy!
