Wanted: Honda XR650L 2002 -07 in California

I'm searching for a XR650L 2002-2007, less then 10K mls and good or great conditions.
Nice if it would have a larger Clarke Gas Tank and Rack. Consider also to add on Mikuni Carb. and 17" Supermoto wheels. Let me know if you have or if you know of a bike for sale. Ideal location would be Sacramento Valley or LA since I have friends there with the cash to buy the bike.
Please sent PM with details and good pictures please.

Thank you

How much is it to import a bike into CR?

How's the surf in Tamarindo?

Thanks for the advise. I had a L before and miss it. Currently I own a KTM640 Supermoto and like to get a XR650L to ride from CA to Costa Rica and keep it as a second bike. I love the characteristic of the engine. It is to heavy for serious dirt biking, but great on the gravel roads which we have a lot her.
Your are right Craigslist is a good source and I'm looking frequently.

Import Tax on vehicles are very expensive. If I buy a bike for US$5000 I will have to pay about US$3000 on top to make it legal here. Depends on Model - year.

Therefore and to answer your question I have to work a bid harder and have less time to surf. Well I don't surf anyway just on the internet and the rest I spend riding this beautiful country.

Thanks again

Hi Patrick,

wow in 1972, I guess it was quite different then. I came 1992 first time to Costa Rica and it was completely different as it is now. You will have a hard time to remember anything. Come for a visit one day and you'll see.

By the way, I found a bike already, an all stock virgin beauty XR650L - 2007 with just 550mls. Thanks for the advise and the trip can almost beginn now.

If you are still interested, I have an XR650L for sale. I am the original owner. It has over 13,000 miles, but they are all street of highway. It has never touched dirt trails or put down. Is very well maintained. I canged the rims. It has Excel rims with the original hubs, but with Excel spokes. Also has a header with BIG GUN Exhaust. I just put a brand new ProTaper bar (Pastrana RM Low Contour), two new JT sprockets (front and rear), and a brand new D.I.D 520 VM X-ring chain. I wanted to change the look on the bike for a more MX look, so I put a white tank (almost new) from a 1998 XR650L with the original red shrouds and it looks pretty cool. I still have the original tank just like new, inside a box. Also I put a small brake light on the rear fender, but I still have the original one. Whoever buys the bike will take everything too. By the way, I am located in Las Vegas, so is not too far.

My wife doesn't want me to sell it, but I am interested in getting a 2004 RC51 (Nicky Hayden model). Think of a fair offer and give me a call. My numbers are: 702-469-3931 (work cell) or 787-586-6102 (pers.cell). You can also e-mail me at: ralph.j.hernandez@us.army.mil.

Thanks,
Ralph
