Buy safety equipment from your home country and always wear it, no exceptions I saw loads of fatalities over the 8 months I was there last trip.
My first place every single time would be..... Lucky Lucky in Phnom Phen Cambodia you can get a bike without being a resident of that country, with all the documentation you will need for leaving the country. He has loads and loads of stolen bikes from Japan, I even remember seeing 4 or 5 1150GS's around the workshop and his staff know their sh*t when maintaining them. In Thailand unless you are buying from another Tourist you will have to be resident to get the paperwork (can take months and costs loads), but also beware of the bikes import date as you might have to pay overstay on it. Japan way way too expensive. Laos, Burma, China you will not be allowed to buy a bike and take it into Thailand. Malaysia, Korea I don't know as never asked. |

Thanks Juda
Thanks mate,
Sounds like great advice... someone else mentioned in passing that Cambodia might be a good idea. Do you have an email for lukkylukky? I might send them a "heads up" for a particular bike, that way I can also get the luggage equipment here as well. Do you ahve any solutions for how I would conduct a transaction like that? Do I just turn up and hope the bike is there? Re: Safety... too bad I didn't know about HUBB 2 years ago... I was medevacced out of Colombia, to Florida for not taking that very, very smart advice, NOMATTER what, NO MATTER how hot! Cheers mate and Thanks again, Chris |

Right just go in and ask to buy a bike, tell him which one you would like and that you want to be able to take it to which ever countries you want, explain that you would like dodgy paperwork and ask if he KNOWS of someone who can supply it. Don't ask if he can supply it DIRECTLY as that's bad manners and you would be accusing him of being a criminal. (remember it's all about face, and you want to keep yours attacted to you head) Then BARTER on the price, and then BARTER on the price again if you want to sell him back the bike once your've finished with it. He has loads there are 4 shops that I know of and hundreds of Imported (stolen) Japanese bikes, loads and loads and loads, he sells everything from little Scoots to Adventurers. Lee (the criminal)
