**WANTED** Africa Twin, U.K.
Hi there, it's been a while since I was last on a bike
, but the bug has bitten again and I'm on the look out for an Africa Twin to use as a commuting tool and maybe a trip or two into mainland europe. ![]() The budget wont stretch to much though, that's my main problem. I've been checking out eBay and there have been a few out there I've had my eye on, but as the auctions have progressed, the price has gone a little too steep for me . Am I likely to get an AT for around £1200 ? Or do you have to spend more than that? If you have or know of an Africa Twin for sale with less than 50k miles on the clock, in good condition and in the U.K. then let me know. I last posted on here when I sold my lovely XT600Z 3AJ a few years back, and although she was a beaut and very reliable and I would highly recommend 3AJ's to anyone, I'm looking for something a little younger now and a little more confortable (old age is a sad thing, but it comes to us all eventually!). |

Dont know if he has sold it yet but I am sure - ted magnum was selling his africa twin not so long ago might still be available mind you I think your way out on the price for a descent ATwith 50,000 miles or less - you may need to up the stakes a bit on the money front.

Yup, mines still available.
I took it off sale until the season picked up but I guess im ready to let it go now. I leave in 3 months for Africa and I need the money ![]() £1200..... NO CHANCE IN HELL MATEY !! LOL You won't get a 100,000 mile one for that with chickens roosting under the seat. They're fantastic machines and getting thin on the ground. The prices are going up, not down !! Perfect overland bikes. Anyway, mines available but you would need to add another £1100 to your budget. Still a bargain !! Link is here if you can stretch it. http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...-luggage-48935

Thanks but your bike (although it's sold now) was a little out of my reach, so I'm still looking for one, only just missed out on one on eBay last night
![]() Keep your eyes and ears peeled and let me know if you see or hear of a decent AT anyone. Thanks.

You could have one of my Elefants for that. Essentially they are a far superior Africa Twin if you don't mind (or actually enjoy as I do) maintenance. I have a 750 that I have run through a hedge in and dropped so cosmetically it looks a bit naff but it has about 30,000 km on the clock and if I can borrow a welder you can have some pannier racks for it too. It has road and off-road setup and a brand new rear shock and updgraded regulator/rectifier.
I have prepped and taken elefants on long trips before and once you know where the problems are and have fixed them they are awesome awesome beasts. Unfortunately I need aboutr 1200 quid to go to Vietnam and rent a Minsk for a few weeks... |

ps just looked at the listing for that AT, the 'fant has about 15 extra HP you could squeeze out (stock was 73hp with a very restrictive exhaust setup, new can about 100 quid, dynojet kit about 60).
You can also get titanium collets etc for ducati engines that extend the service interval to that of a 'normal' bike (15,000km for valves). Admittedly the stock front brake is poor compared to the AT and whilst you can fit better caliper, new mount and bigger disk this will sting (500 odd notes) |
