Suzuki DR650SE WANTED - UK
Hi.
I'm on the lookout for a low mileage (less than 20,000 mile) DR650SE for a UK-Capetown trip.
I'll pay a competitive price. I'd prefer something less than 10 years old but I'll consider anything.

Cheers dude...
That prepped one is nice.. Mileage is a bit off putting though. Although, knowing me, id probably do some engine work on it if it was cheap enough..
Looks like its had a hard life... Why are these bikes always 300 miles away ???? AAAAH !
I don't know why that didnt show up on my ebay search.. !!

I really wouldn't worry about the mileage on the DR650 too much. Peter (Bedhists) DR was on about 150,000kms when I met him in Thailand and is still going strong by all accounts. The DR engines are reputably pretty bulletproof.
Hey, I'd probably have sold you mine if some thieving scum hadn't already helped themselves to it!!!

Yer, they do have a good reputation and you're probably right but im a little bit mechanically anal about things. Mileage isn't really the best indicator of engine condition in my experience. It's how its looked after, serviced, ridden etc. I've seen plenty of blown up low mileage bikes and some 200,000 mile engines puring like new !
I've offered the guy £1200 for it. I've seen a few similar age ones go for under a grand and in fairness, it looks a little rough around the edges and probably had a hard life.... Offered him that as the tank and racks are already there.
I checked my Glass price guide (I used to work in motorcycle sales up until xmas), and the book price is only £700 quid for that age with much less miles. A trader wouldnt ask more than £1350 for a 96 DR in good clean original order..
Starter is pooped, needs a new ignition putting in and a new tyre and I don't like the fact that its been "opened up" with the airbox. Plus, It's going to cost me £100+ to collect it.
Mike, would you mind me asking you how much you paid for yours or what it was valued at ????

Re the 'opening up' of the airbox, thats something a lot of DR owners do to make it breathe easier. I put an alarm in mine and fitted it on top of the airbox but had to remove the snorkal as it suffocated it. Look at the Thumpertalk website for more info on the DR and set ups. I didn't do anything to mine and was fine.
A 2004 DR650SE went for £2k on ebay last week, the older ones will be cheaper. Mine was a 2006 so was a bit more than that but it did only have 4000kms when I bought it.
I've still got the metal soft pannier racks for the SE model (96 onwards) if you end up buying one of those.
