Super Tenere 750 for sale BA June/July

Hey folks...guaging interest in this before I get there.
Am currently in Colombia en-route to BA.
Would possilby be interested in selling the bike there if the money works out vs the cost of shipping it home.

Bike is a 1991 750cc super tenere. Irish registered.
Will likely come with spares such as levers/reg-rec/cables/clutch plates/tubes etc unless I need to use them between now and then.

Bike has had no accidents so far(thank god) is fully loaded with crash bars(tank/engine and headlight/front fairing bars), Trax panniers.
Engine is standard with new emulsion tubes/needles/diaphragms as of 1000kms ago. Current mileage 66k kms. Expected mileage in BA 74-76k kms.

Have had no problems mechanically bar carb jetting and oil use. Standard issues on this model. Bike is using 1/2-3/4 litres per 1000kms.

Am open to offers, but not interested in low-balls. I love it to bits, and it would be strictly a financial decision to sell. Guide price around 3500 euro.
If it doesnt sell I'll be bringing it home, putting an 850tdm engine into it and doing europe-australia on it.

If it does sell...I'll be buying another one, and doing the above
Worst thing about this bike is that everywhere you go people want to know about it. Excellent if you speak spanish, humbling if you dont.

As an aside, if anyone is genuinely interested, a bit of notice of interest(3weeks) would help me get the paperwork sorted out in europe(buyer does not have to be european) and ready to hand over everything with no messing about/complications.

Interested

Hey Man,

I'll be studying in Rio in early July and would really love to have a bike. 3.500 euros is a little out of my price range, but if I have no other luck I would be pretty interested come July. I drove my KLR 650 from Cali-Peru and sold it there a year ago so I know the process pretty well. I don't know much about the bike model though. You got anymore info on it? My email is StewartalsopIII@gmail.com. Thanks!

Stewart

Hi Stewart,

Info on the history of the model here:
Yamaha XTZ 750 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The sold for a year in 1990 in the USA, but it didnt catch on as much as in europe with the Paris Dakar fever that inspired the bike. Common enough in europe-the Super Tenere is the road variant of the Dakar-winning Yamaha bike, as the Africa Twin is the Honda road version of their bike.

Manufactured 1990-96 iirc, but luckily shares parts with the TDM850 of similar years, which sold well in the USA-so parts are available through the yamaha network. As above a common "upgrade" in europe is to put the tdm850 engine, carbs, and ecu into them.
