For Sale: Honda NX 400 Falcon
Hey all, my Honda NX Falcon 400 is for sale here in Sucre (Bolivia), was going to sell it locally but saw a member searching and thought I should advertise her here first.
This is her:
Model: Honda NX400 Falcon 2000 model
Asking price: $3500 (new price is $7000 here)
Papers: All in my name, to transfer takes 4 or 5 days and costs $70
Limitations: None! If you buy in Chile (2nd hand) then you will probably have issues entering Argentina, Bolivia and Peru like I did (my paperwork never arrived so I had to get a power of attorney document from the previous owner which wasn't recognised everywhere I went!!). I haven't had any problems getting around with a Bolivian plated bike and I've also seen them all over SA being ridden by foreigners. You may need insurance in some places but that's not the bikes fault jeiger
Condition: Well the plastics are fairly torn up and it's fairly beaten but it's mechanically sound. She was a bit low on compression in August so I had a new piston and set of rings put in, now she's running better than ever. I've ridden it all around Bolivia, onto the Salar and into Northern Chile and had very few problems, only one flat tyre (due to not checking pressure after purchase), one flat battery (due to being bogged in sand :() and one blown fuse. Tires are at about 70%.
I would however, recommend you to be somewhat mechanically apt, i.e be able to repair a clutch cable and that sort of thing because it is not a brand new bike (though I would recommend this to anyone riding around SA). I will include tyre levers and spare inner-tubes with the sale.
She does about 300km to a tank though you can carry an extra 10l with the jerry can holders I had made giving you approximately 500km range however you would have to choose between using these to carry more fuel or pillion pegs to carry some random girl you pick up. :thumbup1:
Sucre is a single 12 hour journey from La Paz by bus and probably the best Bolivian city to be stuck in ! Perfect climate, beautiful place and lots of attractive young women. Even if you're not interested in my bike make sure to stop by
Chuck some bags on her and she's good to go! The side racks are sized perfectly for Andy Strapz.
Not quite ready to head off yet otherwise might consider it.
Where did you get your racks made up?
Anyway, the top rack was from the local Honda store and I had the side racks made by a local welder. The side racks aren't really strong but they've never caused me a problem, if the bike falls over in the sand or what-not then they just seem to curve in a bit.
Your bike looks like what i would need, so i definitely would like to check it out! How long are you staying in Sucre for?
I plan to fly to Lima in about 10days and could manage somehow to get to Bolivia soon..
Still can't communicate on the HUBB Mail as i just got registered so please email to firstname.lastname@example.org
Andy and I have come to an agreement and the bike sale has been put on hold until he arrives late October. I will update this thread after he has viewed it and decided whether or not he wishes to follow-through on the purchase.
BTW you mentioned you may have trouble entering those countries if you purchased second hand in Chile. So is it impossible to enter or do you have to choose the right border crossing or maybe pay the odd bribe?
If you purchase new in Chile do you not have the same issues?
Im 80 kgs and would be happy travelling at 100 km per hour max, fully loaded up.
Would the Falcon be capable of doing this quite comfortably in your opinion?
Did you have to travel ultra light?
ill be in sucre on feb 2nd
im looking to pick up a bike while im there.
let me know if you still have this one
