For Sale BMW F800GS & Jesse Luggage (panniers & top box), Newcastle UK

2009 (58) BMW F800 GS, Grey (Dark Magnesium Matt) in beautiful condition, for sale in Newcastle, UK

First registered 09/01/2009

Tax until 31/1/12

12,000 Miles, Full BMW Service History

• BMW Aluminium Engine Guard
• BMW Large Hand Guards with Spoilers
• BMW Centre Stand
• BMW ABS
• BMW On-Board Computer
• BMW Heated Grips
• BMW Low seat

Check the cost of those items before you consider buying a bike without them.

BMW warranty until February 2012, and BMW emergency breakdown assistance until February 2012. Can be renewed prior to expiry, applies in Europe, and does transfer to the new owner.

All booklets, documents, bills, owner’s manual and service book, original sales brochure.

Spare key, original under-seat tools all present and correct.

Tyres - Brand spanking new Michelin Anakee 2. Spare set of Battle Wings with about 2500 miles use, still plenty of life, never punctured.

Brand new swingarm, replaced under warranty after one of the chain tensioner bolts failed and sheared off, leaving the end stuck in the swing arm. So now it has brand new swingarm and fitments, and is squeaky clean and shiny.

Free set of spares, all new and unused:-

• Front and rear tubes (approx. £25)
• Front sprocket (cost £20)
• Set of spare bulbs (front, rear, indicator) (cost £22.50)
• 2 spark plugs (approx. £20)
• Oil filter (cost £10)
• Oil filter removal tool (cost £12)
• Coil puller tool (approx. £8)
• Cigarette socket adapter (cost £12)

That’s well over £100 worth of stuff.

Used for a tour of Scandinavia so ridden almost exclusively on road, with only a couple of short gravel roads, but never ridden (by me) off road. Previous owner had it for the first 1800 miles, and judging by the condition I reckon he never used it off road either.

Serviced by Cooper BMW Sunderland and RM Heino of Helsinki, both authorised BMW dealers.

In excellent condition. Never dropped or crashed, always treated with care and scrupulously maintained. Needs no work doing, will be due the next service at 15000 miles.

Bought February 2011 for £6995. For sale at just £5295.

Yes there are cheaper ones on ebay etc. Go and look at them and then come and look at mine. Compare the condition. Compare the spec.

I also have for sale a complete luggage system including

• Jesse Panniers and Top Box plus all mounting, locks etc – worth £1870 - for sale at £1450
• Famsa Tank Bag and Saddle Bag set – worth £240 - for sale at £180
• Givi seat bag that fits perfectly on the seat between panniers, top box and rider – cost new £58 - for sale at £35

Total retail cost £2168. Buy panniers, top-box, tank bag, tank saddlebags, and seat bag for £1430, saving £853 off retail.

If you want to buy the whole package ready for your big trip then I can supply with all luggage fitted and ready to go.

That’s spares and tools worth over £100, luggage worth almost £2200, factory options worth over £1500, plus the bike for just £6925, saving thousands of pounds off retail and including everything you will need for a big trip, all in excellent condition, well looked after, clean and ready to go.

All luggage and equipment was bought between February and June this year and used for a two month trip, so you can expect it to be in good condition as none of it has had a great deal of use. It was all carefully selected to be the ideal solution for the GS.

It’s all for sale sadly and reluctantly because I’ll be travelling and working without the need of a bike for a while.

Bike can be viewed by appointment in Newcastle, mostly any day, any time. All can be collected in person, payment in cash.

I’d rather sell the whole package, but I will sell luggage separately and will ship anywhere world-wide at cost with payment by Paypal or bank transfer. Please note that shipping the Jesse luggage outside the UK would almost certainly be prohibitively expensive, but if you have a serious interest I would be willing to get a quote for shipping.

So hopefully you can see that mine is a very good deal.

Feel free to look at my blog which details my trip with this bike around Scandinavia.

My name is Ali, you can call me daytime and evenings on 07894 292677, PM me or email me on

Sorry - photo seems to be kaput. Will soon post more.

Here's a not-very-good photo of the bike, showing the wonderfully compact Jesse Luggage, which unlike all other luggage systems for the 800GS, isn't any wider than the bars (most other options, including BMW, are stupidly wide). You can also see the Famsa tank bag and saddlebags.

The Jesse Luggage comprises:
  • Top Box 45 litre with quick-release mounting plate
  • 9 inch Safari 2 Panniers holding a total of 79 litres, with a total width of 36" (915mm) on the bike, Thats 150mm or 6 inches narrower than BMW Aluminium panniers

You can find more information about Jesse Luggage here:

As well as being a very good fit on the bike that doesn't make the bike overly wide, the Jesse luggage is incredibly well made, light, very very strong, very secure, and easy to fit.

Unlike other pannier systems I've had before, fitting this system is a breeze and everything goes together snugly. Once in place, it is very solid and stable. The pannier lids open sideways which turns out to be extremely convenient and user friendly. Panniers and top box all lock securely, and, once unlocked, can be removed from the bike in a jiffy thanks to a very well thought out mechanism. You can also adjust the mounting position of the panniers front to back - move them forward if you don't need leg room for a passenger, thereby helping to centre the weight distribution.

This luggage feels like it will last forever, and because it doesn't make the bike any wider it's great for stability, manoeuvrability and riding in traffic.

More details about the Famsa tank bag and tank pannier/saddlebag set can be found here

FAMSA FA260/9 BMW F800GS E Max Tank / Pannier Set > FAMSA Tank Bag Pannier Sets

The tank bag capacity is 13 litres expandable to 19 litres, and each pannier holds another 9 litres.

Like the Jesse Luggage, it is fantastically well made, fits easily and is extremely secure and stable in motion. Tank bag and panniers zip off quickly and have carry straps to take them with you. Panniers fit nicely inside the Jesse topbox so you leave them securely and not have to carry them with you.

The panniers are great for getting a bit of weight further forward to help balance your luggage load. Use them for heavy items like tools and fluids. A two litre fuel canister as sold by Hein Gericke fits in a pannier with plenty of room to spare.

When it rains, the panniers do a fantastic job of keeping your legs dry, and they don't get in the way at all (I'm 5 foot 10 with quite long legs - you'd have to be _very_ tall before your knees get close to the panniers).

It's a fantastic, well-made and versatile piece of kit.
