For Sale: 2008 KLR650 In Panama From Boston
What's up everyone!
So I am three months into my Boston to Panama Motorcycles trip sitting in a little cafe in Costa Rica drinking espresso. I will be in Panama soon and am interested in selling my bike so that I can fly home. I am planning to continue on to South America but at my age, 24, I don't have that kind of cash laying around. Back home I will work for another 8 months waiting tables and then head down to South America, buy a bike and new gear, and continue my trip eventually shipping off to Cape Town and riding up the east coast of Africa. I am selling my 2008 KLR 650 with just under 11,000 miles on it. I have owned it for 5 months and bought it especially for this trip brand spanking new. So far it has had no problems what-so-ever only the usual loose bolts for the Central American dirt roads. There are a few dings but everything is in excellent working condition. I put on the MEFO tires only 4,000 miles ago that are said to last many thousands of miles touring. With the Bike I am selling two side and one top panniers with the rack all made by Caribou luggage systems, 105 liters of space. So far I have really enjoyed the strength of them and would recommend them to anyone wanting to do this trip. The rack did get a crack in it but I had a welder in Mexico fix it and now it is stronger than new. I also am selling my Motorcycle Jacket, L Rev'it touring jacket and Helmet, Aroah light weight S4 British Enduro helmet. This bike is perrrrfect for anyone wanting to do a trip from Panama to North America or for someone wanting to ride Central America before heading down to South America. If you want tips about getting around the Darien Gap just let me know and I can help you out it is quite easy. I bought the bike for 5,300, racks for 1,100, jacket for 400 and helmet for 250 which brings us to the wonderful price of $7,050, not including all that tax and title fun stuff. The bike is registered in Massachusetts and is good through 2009. I would like to get around $5,500USD cash for it, more if you want to help a brother out and less is you are my age and want to join the Badass club of Motorcycle Adventure Touring. One last final word about this bike, it is amazing, truly. I really wish I could ride it home and keep it. I have had fantastic times on this bike both by myself and giving rides to beautiful girls from around the world. I have ridden it to the top of volcanoes and on roads that don't exist except when you ask locals for half an hour. If you have any questions or want to see photos email me and I will get back to you when I am near internet. jhighsmith@gmail.com Best, James Highsmith |
