For sale: 2005 KLR in Argentina, Bolivia or Chile
Hi Hubber!
In the next 3 weeks I´d like to sell my California registered 2005 KLR that has brought me from the US to Bolivia so far. It has 29,xxx miles now and I´d like to ride it to Buenos Aires to sell there, the bike will have about 32,000 miles then. Since I´m now in Bolivia and am crossing into Chile, I could also sell it in these countries, if this would suit you better! Extras: - Progressive front springs - Upgraded rear shock - Aluminium skid plate - Hand protectors - IMS 6.6 gallon tank (25 liters) - Luggage rack with soft luggage - Wolfman explorer tankbag - Doohickey done - 12V outlet - Fork brace - Heated grips and many minor ones, for instance, different front fender (that doesn´t look as silly as the stock one), magnetic drainplug, relocated mirrors so they don´t break off when you tip the bike over. If you´d like, I´ll include the Clymer manual, all the backup parts I have and my tools, my tent (shitty one) and sleeping pad. History: I´ve fallen once going 45 mph (70 km/h), I slid over a huge oil patch in the road. I didn´t hit anything so the bike just slid on the handguard and the soft bag. Picked it up and rode away. Besides this I had quite a few tipovers in the dirt when I was going 5 mph or less (like any overlander). This put scratches on the plastics but this is only cosmetical damage, not really something to worry about on a KLR ![]() In Central America I had probems with the bike burning too much oil, then in Colombia I got a new piston, new pistons rings and a new cylinder sleeve. This fixed the oil burning and the bike is running without any problems now. The cylinder sleeve is the standard stock size, so no boring or anything. The price I´m looking for is now down from 2,600 to 1,200 US dollars. If you´d like to see more pictures, let me know and I´ll email them to you! Let me know if you´re seriously interested, I might ride to you to show you the bike! Hey guys,
Since I put the ad up I´ve had one response so far, whom did not reply when I replied back to him.. Because selling it works out much better for me than shipping it to Holland and having to import it there, I´ll try to sell it for a much much lower price hoping someone will be interested. From 2,600 US to 1,200. Yeah.. my loss, your gain! I´m flying out on the 10th of Buenos Aires where I am right now, so if you´d be interested, get back to me soon! Cheers, Torben Last edited by Torben; 5 Jun 2010 at 22:46. Reason: Wanted to say Im currently in Buenos Aires |

Torben!
This is Chad, we met at the Kiwi Hostel in Medellin. I'm in Ecuador now. A couple of days after we left Medellin, my camshaft went and it took two months for parts to arrive! I've been stuck up here for two months! Sorry to hear you are finishing your ride. I though you were going to try to make it Ushuaia. What's the weather like down there right now? That's a great deal for your bike, by the way. I'm surprised you haven't sold it yet. Chad |
