It is with much regret that I am contemplating selling my Dakar. I am currently on tour from South Africa to Ethiopia, and am looking to sell at the end of the trip (approximately September/October, 2004).
The bike is Africa ready...
Suspension Upgrades: New Ohlins rear shock. Fully adjustable (compression, rebound, preload) and much, much better than stock. I also installed aftermarket progressive springs for the front forks (and dust boots), and the upgrades have totally transformed the bike's handling off road.
Panniers: 41L Touratech aluminium panniers with rack, plus Touratech tank bag...plenty of capacity for a long journey, and strong enough to take the falls.
Drop-ability Upgrades (Pingproofing): BMW bash-guard; Touratech hinged footpegs and break/clutch pedals (much stronger than stock); and flexible front indicators and protected rear indicators/number plate mount (the origionals broke just by looking at them).
Engine: Nothing, it's a Rotax.
Interested? I'm looking for $5000. Am flexible to sell within the Horn of Africa region, or South Africa.
