FOR SALE - 1981 BMW R80 G/S with various modifications. I am finally decided to sell my boxer. Busy at the moment but after July begins it will be on ebay. info here first in case any HUBBers are looking for a monolever.

I bought it last summer from a guy called Alan in Birmingham who had done quite a lot of work already to get it ready for a long trip.

The reason I am selling is that it is too big for me. After months of getting used to it to be sure, I have decided to go for something smaller. This does make me sad as I am fairly in love with it but I am small and light and better suited to a smaller bike for my forthcoming RTW.

In no particular order the main mods are:

Big Bore Kit. 800 to 1000cc. adds about 15%hp.

Twin Spark Kit. Two extra sparking plugs. Similar effect.

Strong steel pannier frame that re-inforces the sub-frame and carries
two huge Swiss-Army ammo-box panniers.

A poly-HPN tank. White translucent tank holds 8 gallons or so.

New road tyres 1000 miles ago. New Odyysey Gel Battery. Forks from a R100R with big double disks.

All new electric loom two years ago, professionally fitted.

The bike is in great condition for a 28 year old. Passed the MOT in September 08 after only a headlight and steering stop adjustment. It sounds like the MGM Lion and has A LOT of torque. Pictures from last summer are up on tobyyarwood.com and I will do more soon.

things i have remembered are..

1 there is an Akrapovic titanium exaust as well as the fitted stainless steel one.

2 There is a rebuilt KickStart Gearbox fitted - though she starts on the button and so i have never tried to master it.

3 the biggest addition to when i paid 2.5k in august is a BRAND NEW AND FITTED R80 G/S BMW crashbars and sidestand!! this cost LOADS and LOADS and I had to wait AGES for it to get here from Bavaria via motobins as it is the only sidstand that works with a monolever g/s.

4 i have a strong aversion to any kind of selling. I kind of want to sell it in the next week or so but am in no hurry and the above mentioned price is the minimum i will let it go for..

5 i am in the uk at DT11 8TQ

oh yes, a brand new and boxed speedo as the old one forgets to count the miles and over reads by 20%. and a Halfords speedo for timings etc. and oxford heated grips. and strong handguards and umm...
