Purchase of the Enfeild in Nepal
We are two young Australians looking to invest in the Royal Enfield in Nepal for an overland trip through India, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, Syria and up into Western Europe... We are leaving in Oct this year and hope to go and visit humanitarian workers in those parts...
Any advice on buying a bike in Nepal, obtaining a carnet and riding through these countries would be greatly appreciated. cheers nath |

The famous Turkish mountaineer Mr. Nasuh Mahruki and his 2 friend have done a tour with Royal Enfield in India. www.nasuhmahruki.com is his homepage. Unfortunatelly the page is only in Turkish but here is his e-mail: nasuh@nasuhmahruki.com.

Hey,
I hear that Enfields are rare in Nepal. It may be better to buy one in India (bombay), ride to nepal and loop back to Pakistan. I'm planing to do this exact rout next year, on an enfield too. Let us know of any hitches you encounter. Hey, read that india no longer issues carnets to non-indians with indian registered bikes- maybe Nepal is the place to buy an enfield after all! |

gonnzo_ we head out on monday + have ended up grabbing abike in auz to ship across... yep nepal was the loophole but on investigation it was real hard to get a carnet there too- people have done it who are british citizens... but for us Aussies it was near impossible..
