Too bad B.C. isn't closer to Ontario, for a good number of reasons but that's beside the point, for I have a 2007 V-Strom of that description with 5K on it that I thought I'd be seeing again in my garage next Spring. If you'd like to discuss some transportation options I'd be happy NOT see it in my garage next Spring. It's been replaced with a one-up KLR.

Hi Sprint , the distance is a bit of a bugger eh ? I'm looking at buying as as close to home as I can , if the weather were warmer then flying out and riding home would be a great tempter .
Thanks for getting in touch and good luck selling your bike.

No problem Dodger. Just did a google search on B.C. V-Stroms and you've got a great opportunity to pick up a brand new '07 for "asking" $ 9600 + Freight and PDI. They don't make the 1000 any more and I'm sure you could pick it up for less than that at this time of year.

Good luck! Enjoy your trip.

.

That got me scuttling off to the S webpages:

Suzuki GB Motorcycles/ATVs: Suzuki On Road Bike Range

It's on sale here in the UK according to their website attached here, for around £6500.
I 've become a bit wary of what I read on manufs webpages, but surely, by now, this must be the Suzuki lineup for 2008, at least in the UK?!

The 2008 DL1000 is available in Canada for $10K , 2007s are about $9000.

Some dealers in Canada are a bloody joke , one w#nker of a salesman tried to sell me an ex demo bike for more money than a brand new one on the sales floor . He also informed me that Ewan and Charley rode bikes identical to this!!!!!!!!!!! [?]
I said it didn't have the built in foot warmers , you know those things that stick out the side with fins on ,so I didn't want it .
He said we can get you whatever accessory you want. [--- sheesh !!!]

Thanks mate , but I managed to buy one already .
Lovely bike, except for the severe buffeting from the screen .
I'm experimenting with different screens and positions [ !!!! ] hoping to get a better windflow .
I might just ride without a screen .
Anybody come up with a good solution yet ?

Glad to hear you found one Dodger,
theres a real lack of used 650s over here too - is there much difference between the 650 and 1000 screens ?

Try here for some ideas:

I don't think there is any difference between 650 and 1000 screens .

At the moment I have the small standard screen on the bike and have put a 1 inch spacer on the bottom two screws to kick out the base of the screen and bring back the top edge .
This combined with putting it in the highest setting seems to work the best so far .
I think it needs to be about 4 inches wider overall and about 3 inches higher .
I've got a GIVI screen ordered and hopefully it will do the job , if not then I'm going to buy a sheet of Lexan and make my own .

Good luck finding a 650 , might see you on the road one day !
