looking for a bike in Alaska or BC
Hi fellows!
I am planning to take a plane to Anchorage (orVancouver) in june and want to ride in the Americas for at least 6 months (maybe many more).
I am used to Africa Twin and got two in Germany.
I am not sure which bike I should go for, thinking about liability, a little comfort,
storage possibilities, availibility of parts and mechanics that CAN fix it and do not take my last shirt for it and last but not least the possibility to ride on almost any road.
Is KTM 640 LC4 a candidate?
Should I go for KLR 650 (which model)?
BMW F650/800?
V Storm 650?
I am 1.86m and about 100kg : )

Thanks for any help or offers!

Cheers Toby

Just came up an idea in my mind:
if anyone wants to do a deal with one of my twins or is planning a trip in Europe and wants to "hire"both...

There are endless threads on which of the bikes you listed work well for what riders. In the end, the conclusion is usually "it depends." Use Google to search as follows: site:horizonsunlimited your search terms here.

I don't know whether you've got something special in mind, but the USA visa waiver lasts 90 days, the full visa 180 days. Might want to look into that.

Hope this is helpful.

2009 KLR in Late July to Mid August
Hey Tobey,

I´m looking to sell my KLR650 in late july to August in Anchorage after i finish my PanAm trip. There is a post with photos, cost, etc if you scroll through a few pages of the ads. It`s advertised as 2 KLRs, but they can be sold individually, just look for the post from "adelaidetoanchorage"

Happy to go through the details via email (adelaidetoanchorage@gmail.com) if you like.

Thank you Mike!
I have even written to you because of this ad some weeks ago...
but it is too late. I will be in Vancouver on the 11th of june.
Are you satisfied with your choice of bike?
By the way, where are they registred. I wonder how it will be when I buy a bike in Canada (or the USA), register and insure it there and want to sell it in South America?
Good luck with your trip and selling!

Cheers Toby
