I have ridden my trusty 640 from Cape Town to Morocco and due to the expensive quotes i have received to ship it back home am wondering whats involved should i try to sell it in Europe.

How easy is it to do so with regards to paperwork etc???

KTM 640 2003 Model
Grey black
38lt Hard pannier system
KTM Tank bag
23,000 km on the clock

Any offers??

Cheers
Luke

Luke,

I expect it will be difficult to sell in Europe unless purchased by an overlander who is happy to keep the SA plates. I kept an SA registered KTM 640 Adv in London for 2 years, during which time I looked seriously at selling it, and decided against it due to the hassle. I would think that you would open up a much bigger market if you transfered the rego to a European country, UK probably being the easiest, and then sell it.

I decided the only thing to do was to head back down to South Africa. I am also currently in Morocoo (Fes) heading south, so if you are still around lets catch up for a .

cheers

In Malaga

Kakpraat i pm´d a message to you.

Matt, unfortunately i´m in Malaga at the moment. Have to catch up for that in CApe Town if your heading down.

How would we work around the paperwork if i was to sell or rent the bike to a overlander coming down to SA? I mean if the bike papers are in my name crossing borders is not gonna be fun!

Any ideas

Cheers
Luke

Shipping...

Luke, what sort of prices were you quoted for shipping it?

The prices we got seemed really reasonable (especially since you don't have to pay any duties) - we even considered shipping bikes over to SA for a holiday!

I reckon, used bike prices the way they are in SA - you'd probably make more money selling it over there. Especially a KTM, cos they're a bit gaga over them!

I'm leaving Europe for ZA in 2-3 weeks time. I'll be happy to ride it down for you for a "rental" fee if you're still interested in the option. I have a 640 ADV which I'm about to load on a plane from the US out to Europe, but picking one up in Europe would be easier.
If that's something you'd contemplate, let me know.
Cheers!

In Storage Malaga

Currently the bike is in storage in Malaga, Spain.

I would consider renting it out, what would you consider to be a fair rate??
Contact me on my email lukefarren@gmail.com.

It may be a mater of days before the shipping agent picks up the bike, but i could cancel the shipping if we come to an agreement.

The bike needs a new chain and sprocket and a service, all which could be organized in Malaga or near abouts.
Other than that the bike is ready to go.
-The panniers are on
-Airoh S4 helmet in crate.
- 2.5kg tent
- Fuel stove
- Other spares, front inner tube...
-I have the tank bag with me here in Cape Town.

Cheers
Luke

Get in touch..

Hey Luke,

I got some (much cheaper!) prices for you - but you've dropped off the map.. can't get hold of you via your email addresses or via PM.

Please get in touch if you're still looking for shipping
