I have two KLR 650's. A 2000 and 2002. They are now being updated at a shop in Temuco Chile (500 miles south of Santiago). There is a major airport there. This is a fantastic jumping off point for Tierra del Fuego or other direction. Can email me at private acct here or catch me at my hotmail acct. arlenaas (AT) hotmail.com.. Bikes were purchased in Chile (one was new) and can easily be transferred to your name. Bikes will be in Arica (northern tip) Chile Dec 20 if not sold before November.(we will ride them to Arica...)

A new KLR50 in Chile is over $9000 US. My 2000 KLR is now in a shop in Temuco Chile getting new rings, possibly new sleeve if needed, new chain/sprokets and new front tire. It has about 23000 miles on it. I can check to be more accurate but its not more I don't think. Its a decent bike. Been to TDF 3 times and Peru/Bolivia once. The bike is registered in my name in Chile. I am from US. Bike can easily be transferred and ridden anywhere. Asking $4000. Send me an email to my hotmail acct at arlenaas(AT)hotmail.com and I'll send you a photo.

Regards, Arlen

Bikes are still in Chile. Not sure why it needs new rings but started burning more oil than I wanted. I didn't want to either ride it on another trip while using oil or sell it and stick someone with it. The 2000 is available now or after my Nov/Dec trip at which time it will end up in northern Chile. Probably best to reach me at my hotmail address......... arlenaas(at)hotmail.com Let me know when you would need a bike. Might work out best if it coincided with time that I will be there in order to transfer papers properly. Not sure why it started burning oil, but best to get it updated.

Smile For What It's Worth

In December 2000 I bought a KLR (tengai) located in Australia, sight unseen, from Arlen via an internet bulletin board similar to this one. I felt he was very fair to deal with, bike was as described, and mechanically fit. All dealings went without a hitch, and I feel comfortable recommending him to anyone.

Good Luck with the sale Arlen,
