I Need a Bike in Ghana
I'm looking for a bike for another trip in Ghana in June 2010 - ideally something small and secondhand (Chinese?) that I can sell on after a few weeks' use.
If you have experience of Ghana, what are my chances of showing up and finding a suitable bike?

There are whole neighborhoods in Accra devoted to sales of new and used Chinese bikes. Last I checked, new prices including taxes and such ran around US$1200, used prices accordingly. So....with cash in hand you'll have no trouble finding a bike. Whether this is "suitable" for your purposes is entirely obscure, and whether you'll be able to sell it after just a couple of weeks is even more murky.

I rode a few used Chinese bikes and found they deteriorate rapidly--connections, bolts, seals, bearings, etc. This might not matter for a few weeks use, though I'd be reluctant to get overcommited on such a bike.

Do you know what documentation is required to legally ride a bike in Ghana and how long it may take for me to get it? Would this be the same for both new and secondhand?

Any info would be very useful.
