Honda XR650R for sale in England
Fully prepped adventure travel bike.
2002 model 17,300 kms, which I've owned for 6 years and done nearly all the mileage. It's been used for trips to Morocco, and been meticulously looked after. It always goes to Morocco and back in the van which has kept the mileage down.
Acerbis 24 litre tank gives a range of well over 400 kms, plus Renazco seat which massively improves comfort.
Scott steering damper, very expensive but it works wonders on rocky going or in the sand, probably one of the best mods I've made.
Hand made custom crafted screen made out of a piece of plastic, definitely not touratech but it works! Fitted with Maier hand guards and folding mirrors to avoid breakages.
Up rated alternator and 2 spot lights so even though you don't want to ride at night in Morocco, you can at least see the idiot on the donkey with no lights you're just about to crash into, inshallah!!!! It's the road legal model with horn, indicators, dip and pathetic main beam to the man on the donkey knows which way you're going swerve.
Bar risers for better comfort along with IMS wider foot pegs to replace Honda's feeble things.
Radiators filled with ICE coolant and higher rated thermostat which means the pig doesn't boil over in the sand (just the rider instead, I tried drinking the ICE coolant and can confirm it definitely doesn't work as well as ice cold stella for me, so you've been warned!!!)
I know Honda's don't break down but just in case I've got spare clutch and throttle cables already mounted in situ cable tied to the others.
Braided steel brake hoses coz any original rubber type will be well and truly past their sell by date now. Both front and rear brakes were stripped recently and new seals fitted so the brakes actually work. Amazing how many people neglect the power to stop safely.
Alloy bash plate rather than the horrible plastic pretend thing fitted by Honda's joke department. Also plate fitted to the side stand foot to stop it sinking into sand/mud etc. Again definitely not a Touratech item as it was in stock. Actually it's a piece of scrap metal but hey it works and it was cheap.
XR's only case saver so you not only protect the crank case but can still use a 15 tooth front sprocket.
The Honda silencer has been modified so it isn't as loud as the HRC tip or chokes the bike like the standard pea shooter. In essence the bike runs great and starts first or second kick. Also got a Leo Vince alloy silencer as well gathering dust.
Up rated suspension front and rear with stronger springs which works a treat and means that the suspension has been serviced rather than neglected.
Ram mount for Garmin 60CSx wired into the bike with auxiliary battery to power it as well.
It's just had a full service so new oil/filter/air filter, chain and sprockets along with the annual strip down and grease of the head races, rear linkage and swing arm. Make no mistake about the swing arm. I've seen 2 XR's with them seized due to lack of maintenance, one of which required cutting the old swing arm out and a BIG bill for a new one.
New Metzler Sahara Enduro 3 tyres fitted, plus spare wheels complete with virtually new Michelin T63 tyres, discs and sprockets.
MOT and taxed until March 2013
Honda workshop manual and a box of other misc spares including front and rear sprockets.
On the luggage front it's fitted with a Whips rack with a Wolfman bag on, and Dirt Bagz pannier frames and soft panniers.
It doesn't look pretty , but then again neither do I, but it's mechanically very sound and been used for the purpose intended. It's a great long distance trail riding, desert, adventure bike.
However I’m prepared to sell off the spare wheels/tyres/discs/sprocket, Leo Vince pipe and even various other bits to substantially reduce the price.
It's in Manchester, England so if you're based in Argentina I'll deliver it for a (considerable) price and it may take 6 months to get there.
Any questions please give me a call on +44 7973 741335.
I've used the number to send you a txt. I'm in sheffield and could nip over for a look, if that suits.
