Guatemala Bike Wanted

I am looking to buy a bike here in Guatemala and travel down to Panama and onto South America. I have a budget of around 25,000-30,0000Q for the bike or maximum 4000USD

I like to get off the beaten track and have no time constraints. From what I've read it sounds like a KLR 650 may suit my purposes. Any advice on this particular bike or any others.

After something that is easy to maintain and find extra parts. I have very limited mechanical experience.

I only have experience riding a Yamaha Virago 250 back in Australia.

Cheers for your help.

Hello Blackmamba,

I'm selling my bike in Guatemala. Here's the link: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...uatemala-67453

It's not a KLR 650 but a 200... But who knows. I had a wonderful time coming up from Ecuador on this bike and also if you don't decide to buy it feel free to contact me for infos. I was off the beaten track more or less.

Have a very nice day!

Shadi

Gday Shadi
Cheers for the reply but at the moment I am thinking my best bet is to get a cheap flight to Los Angeles and then buy a decent KLR650 second hand and ride it back down through mexico and downwards if I can arrange for someone to help organise for me before hand. All the best and have a good one.

Hi black mamba,
Where are you in guatemala?
I'm in antigua right now,
I could hook you up with a friend who's got a 1991 dr 650 in really good shape for around 18 000 Q
Guatemala plate.

Coors - are you traveling through or staying here in Antigua? I don't think we've met. I try to invite people that I see coming through to come into Moto Cafe, 6a Calle Oriente #14. Stop by if you get a chance, always enjoy sharing stories or giving advice if needed.

Chris
