For Sale is my 650 Dakar, now with a years MOT.

I really like the way the 650s ride and handle, they'll give the bigger bikes a real run for your money 'especially in the twisties' and cost you less too. They pull like a train right up to the top of their rev range, will literally climb walls, are excellent for commuting, touring, trail riding and scratching. Infact (well anything upto about a tone) anything you can do on a bike you can probably do on the 650gs and in many cases much better.

So your asking yourselves; If I'm so keen on these bikes, why would I be selling this one?
Well it's like this Err! We have two 650gs's a 100 and a 1200. One bike has to go (it's a space thing you know) We drew straws and the 1200 got the short one So we drew again and the Dakar has been put on the market for a new owner.

We'll start with the bad bits:

It's been resprayed a silvery green colour.

The indicators are non standard. Though they work fine and are out of the way for off roading.

It has been fitted with Err! moped mirrors Again out of the way for off roading and ain't too bad for seeing behind either.

I'd just like to say here; I did not do any of the above, thats how I bought the bike.


The good bits:

Full years MOT as of today 15/12/08

New handlebar grips (or at least it will have once I've put them on)

New fork seals fitted.

The motor is a very nice sweet example. Starts well, runs well and pulls like a train.

I serviced the bike when I bought it, and replaced the filters. I have also had the fault codes read by a main dealer (NOG) none were found, nore any outstanding recalls etc.

Chain and sprockets are in good condition.

at some point in it's life a Scott Oiler has been fitted, though most of the pipework has been disconnected and lost.

A new front TKC was fitted when I purchased the bike (it's done less than 500mls) and an old Tourence on the back. If the buyer wishes I will swap the tyres for a part worn set of either Tourances or Anakees (both have several thousand miles left in them.

The bike has OE heated grips fitted and working on both settings. (as above, I have new grips ready to fit).

Brakes front and rear are in good condition and both work very well.

There is a choice of two seats (sorry only one will go with the bike). The seat in the pictures is a standard/low seat in yellow. Alternatively you could opt for the original High seat in black.

Mileage is just about 27050mls.

With the exception of the above this bike is actually quite good for its age. The engine is sweet and pulls like a train. The rear shock is good too.

The bike is a genuine F650 GS GD Dakar, registered on an X plate in December 2000.
I now at long last have the log book (the last owner forgot to send it to Swansea )

I have ridden this bike maybe 400 miles. I took it to the Hog Raost, so some of you might have seen it there. Otherwise I've hardly ridden it, but it has been off road (3 gentle trail rides with SWMBO and on Salisbury plain at the H-R). Just in case your wondering: To the best of my knowledge this bike has never been Fording.

If it wasn't for a lack of garage space and time to ride the bike I'd be keeping it.
