So the time is coming where I need to be separating myself from my lovely chinese machine, within the next 4-8 weeks I'll be selling her off in Santiago, Chile, or somewhere near.
See my home-made numberplate handiwork, (original broke off and lies somewhere in the Bolivian Amazon. no problems with cops yet!
There should be 4 photos here, but since 3 of them are hosted by Facebook they might not all work.. let me know if anyone has trouble viewing them.
It's a "Star - Amazonas 250" (actually 229cc in reality) and by the time I sell it will have just under 12,000KM on it I predict.
I bought it in Paraguay and rode it all through Bolivia, now into Peru and will be going south into Chile shortly.
I chose this bike because it has lots of ground clearance, big knobbly tires, a nice little rack on the back on which to put mybackpack and is yellow.
It's got a tool tube on the side with pretty much every tool you need (spanners, pliers, screwdrivers, feeler-guage, side-cutters etc.)
I put some bigger, wider handlebars on it, I also installed a USB power socket to charge your things with, which is wired in separately from the ignition system, with a push-pull switch and is water-proof when not in use.
Before I left I had the original tire tubes replaced with Pirelli's, and with 9,200KM on it today It's not had a single puncture or leak. And before I leave Arequipa for Santiago I'll be changing the tires, probably for new Pirelli's, but will update this shortly. I've taken this bike up to 4,700M so far and have 3 different main jet sizes (85, 105, 115) that will go with the bike, along with a spare piston and rings, and an inner tube.
I've always changed the oil regularly, (2,000km~) and will be new on arrival to Santiago, The sprockets and chain were replaced around 6,000KM. depending on their condition I may change them when I get to Santiago as well. Being chinese It's had plenty of minor problems, all of which have been cheap enough to fix.
I'll also be selling a Touratech tank bag, a hein gerikle jacket with all the padding and back protection and a cosmetic rip on the shoulder, a pair of awesome boots (saved my legs countless times) and some knock off alpine star padded pants, and a GPS that only works when plugged into power (not a problem, since it's powered by the bike)
For the bike I want $800usd.
The riding & camping gear I'm willing to part out separately, and the buyer of the bike will have first dibs on what ever he/she wants.
Any questions let me know! (for quicker answers send me a PM)
I'm sure I'll think of more things to put up soon. Cheers!
