Hello fellow travellers,
together with a few friends I will ride down from Spain (Malaga) to Dakar (Senegal) in December 2007/January 2008. We will have a look at the Rallye in places and enjoy the sunshine. The trip will end on 20.01.2008 and I will fly back to Europe. So, here come the bike. I just bought it in the country that I have residency at the moment, in Switzerland, for this trip. It is an 1988 1VK (1VJ) XT 600 Z Tenere, blue and yellow with org. 27.000km on the clock. It is in excellent condition, the engine sounds like new, it has been serviced fully and new parts have been put (e.g. chain, filter, rear tyre). It is in original condition, only the rear shock is an aftermarket one, I think it is White Power. Tyres are dual purpose metzelers, the rear is new. At the moment I am trying to find a luggage rack for soft bags. So, if you want you can ride this bike in Africa (or to Europe) from 20.01.2008 (this is the date the Rallye ends), here is the offer. I am only asking 1100 Euros for it. And I am buying it back if you ride it to Switzerland. As I know the 1VJ Tenere better than most riders (I have ridden one around the world for 6,5 years 251.000km), I am not going to give you a junk bike. But please be prepared to get a few spares before coming out to Dakar. By then the bike will be due for a service, no problem I will help you with this. About paperwork we will have to talk by email, but I am not going to get a carnet for it. It will be still registered, but depending on what you want to do I am going to take it out of registration. If you are seriously interested, you have the time and the money, please send me an email. mikakuhn (at) web (dot) de Enjoy riding the DAKAR with your own speed on your own bike. Bonjour,
the Tenere was sold on 20.01.08 to a local in Thies 70km from Dakar, the bike had 35.000km on the clock - a bold rear tyre and a worn chain - and I got 900 Euros for it. I am happy, he is happy... Greetings from Bulgaria Mika |
