Chinese GY200-$450
I live where the borders of Arizona, USA/California, USA/Baja Norte, Mexico/Sonora, Mexico meet. I bought a 200cc enduro from jetmotousa.com, registered it for the street in the US state of Arizona, rode it locally, and it broke down on me. It isn't running after about 600 miles, and it is either a simple fix, or a new engine. I have seen new engines on Ebay for just under $400 US shipped in the US, but the reason I am selling the bike is because not only do I not have the money for the engine, I don't have the money for other things, such as bills, etc. The advantage is that I have a clear Arizona title for it, although I don't know how easy or difficult it would be to transfer it to a non-US citizen on a travel visa in this state.
The disadvantage: its only a 200 which may or may not be a problem. It's not running, and parts might be hard to come by, although easier than 1 or 2 years ago. Like I said, a new LIfan 200 engine shipped is about $390. Yes, there are dealers selling brand new GY200's for $1100 US shipped, but they are in a crate and need assembly, and one would have to go through the registration process from scratch, using the internet dealer's Manufacturers Statement of Origin (MSO) or Certificate of Origin (MCO) and a bill of sale. Like I said, this one is registered until next July ('07) in the state of Arizona.
If you are very savvy mechanically, it might be an easy fix, but as I was stranded in about 40 C heat, I would advise on a new engine, as they are cheap enough!
(I am not desperate for the cash, so there isn't too much room for negotiation, so don't offer me $125 and think I'll take it. I can get the cash other ways, and might end up keeping the bike and getting a new engine in a few months).
