Chiclayo, Peru

Hey, me and my buddy are in Chiclayo, Peru. We want to buy 2 motorcycles and continue travelling south into Bolivia. I will travel as far as Brazil over land. Tonight we are catching a bus to Chachapoyas for some hiking but will return to Chiclayo in a week or two. Would be great to meet other bikers in this area.

Also we dont have any experience of buying motorcycles so would appreciate some help when buying. We have met plenty of people selling of course but would like some independent advice before we put the money down. Please let me know if you think you will be in the area over the next two weeks!

Our budget is limited so we are looking at Chinese and Korean models as well as the Japanese. I hear the Wanxin are reasonable for the money...?

Cheers
James

Tornado!

I have lived and biked for 30 years in Peru and I would highly recommend a used Honda XR250 Tornado. My son and I took two of them for 10,000 km Peru-Brazil-Argentina-Bolivia-Peru. Parts everywhere, cheap, and NEVER gave us a lick of problems. Look for a $2,000 used Tornado before you do anything! You will finish your trip and be able to sell it for almost the same amount.

If you buy a chineese job, you may not even finish your trip and it will be worth NOTHING when you are done.
