Cheap Lifan bikes available in the US
I came across this Ebay seller the other day. They are located in Pomona, California, and will allow local pickups. I spoke with the woman who runs the business, and they seem to be legitimate, as evidenced by their rating. Anybody who needs a brand new, cheap bike in the US should check them out. (Only two of the several listed will qualify as U.S. street legal). If a pickup isn't feasible, their shipping rates across the US seem reasonable. The only downside is that the bikes come unassembled, so one needs to be knowledgeable in assembly.

Parts are very, very limited. Reliability is questionable and not proven. Proper service from established dealers is a tad above non-existant.
A cross country bike...or an around-the-block bike? Yuma, didn't you previously post that you were dealing in Chinese bikes? |

I wanted to deal in them, but don't have the time. These are more around the state bike, rather than around the states. There is a story of two guys who ride Zongshens thru China in a one month time over 10,000km's. On a US forum, one guy rode a brand new Roketa (comes with a Lifan engine) for 500 + km over two days. (Nothing broke on him)
The point is, these bikes are not good for RTW or even cross the states (due to top speed vs. reliability as on several Chinese motorcycle Yahoo group members are reporting 1000's of km with little trouble). I thought if someone was in the states for a few weeks and wanted a bike with little comittment/investment, these might be cheap alternatives. (You could lose the bike in a high stakes poker match the last day of your stay). |
