Hi,

Germany is a good place to find an airhead GS, although they're as cheap as they used to be for some reason. Second hand prices went up with the introduction of the Euro, as did most things.

A good place to look is TourenFahrer magazine. It's out monthly & normally has at least 10 GS' for sale. My girlfriend is German & gets TF every month.

If you have trouble understanding the adverts in TF, let me know & I'll provide the english translation's of the common bike parts & abbreviations that they use.

Please note that quite a few of the German bikes have covered a lot of km's but can also come equipped with some worthwhile accessories.

There are few for sale in the UK. I'm selling my 1993 R80GS Paralever sometime soon, it's the wrong time of year at the moment.

BTW, wherabouts in France are you?

Steve

Thanks Steve!

I'll try to get the web site of this german magazine. I Will not hesitate to ask you if I have any trouble understanding...which might happen! I am now staying in Paris, getting a difficult time living there after a wonderful Hanoi to Paris journey on a Minsk (www.minsktour2002.com - in "froggy").
I'll keep you informed about my research!

Alex, TF doesn't have anything on their site htat you can access without subscribing to it. Unfortunately. But you can contact them via the site and probably order a copy. Tell them where you heard about them, they're one of our biggest sponsors!

As for the translations, there is a huge translation and glossary page in the "Tech" section - Tech link on left.

If anyone wants to ADD to the translation/glossary tables, there is an Excel spreadsheet you can download and update as you wish, and send back to me via the contact us link at the bottom.

thanks for any help with this ongoing project!
