Hi David,
I'm Pierre. My girlfriend Merritt and I are in San Francisco and we have a fully-equiped F650GS Dakar 2002 for sale with less than 73,000km (45,300 miles). It has the best prep you can find: - Jesse Luggage aluminum suitcases, - Touratech tankbag, - Ortlieb large waterproof bag, - Garmin etrex GPS with Touratech mount, - Kevlar protections for engine and brakes, - Acerbis metal hand-guards, - Fork gaiters, - Radiator protector, - Aviation brake lines, - BMW 12v plug, - Touratech large offroad footpegs, - BMW alarm with remote, - Jesse Luggage rear carrier, - Custom-made center-stand, - Custom paint, - Touratech seat, - and especially the big Touratech tanks 39 liters with a range of 900+ kilometers, meaning you cannot run out of gas whatever road you take in South-America - no need to carry extra gas in the Andes or on Ruta 40, and you still enough gas to cook with. The price? 6,250 dollars or 5,000 euros, which is a good deal considering the amount we spent in preparation: a total of 12,000 euros - and that was without counting the extra stuff like GPS, tankbag and big waterproof bag. The Touratech tanks alone cost $1,900. The bike is registered in France, meaning you can easily bring it back to Europe and have it registered there at the end of your trip, or you can sell it in Argentina or elsewhere, of course... We'll make a Sale Certificate at a Notary Public in all 3 languages (English/Spanish/French) for peace of mind. You can find 4 pictures (left, right, front, rear) at: http://www.photobiker.com/vroom/blue/ (don't worry about the wet spots underneath the bike, we washed it a bit before taking it out) The only defaults are cosmetic, and really minor (a small patch of paint is peeling off in front, same on the right suitcase, a bit of duct-tape on the left suitcase, the lower side of the right tank shows some scratches)... That's it. I can send you detailed pictures of all that if you like. The tires (Tourance front/rear), chain and brake pads are all in good or very good shape (2/3rds good). The battery is almost new and kept on a tender at home. Oil and filters will be changed before you go. If we make a deal, I can spend 2 or 3 days with you to get you ready for the trip - whatever it is that you most want to do or learn: change or fix tires... do the maintenance... go around town and shop for camping gear, tools, clothing or cameras... how to use the GPS... life on the road... places to go... I'm not working these days, so it's no problem. You can stay at our place downtown San Francisco for free, for a week or so. The city is really worth a visit, and the ride on Highway-1 down to Los Angeles is not to be missed. Voilà, tell me if you are interested. The price tag matters, of course, but the real cost of a bike is the price you paid for it minus what you sell it for, compounded with how much you enjoyed it while you were riding it - and that one is a great ride.
Well, buena suerte a ti también. Si quieres aprender español, puedes leer mi página a http://www.photobiker.com/store/books.html#dictionaries. Las mejores escuelas están en Guanajuato o San Miguel de Allende. Hasta luego Pierre |
